Covenant Health’s St. Michael's site has an opening for a Temporary Supervisor on the Nutrition, Food, Linen and Environmental Services (NFLES) Team.

The Supervisor reports to the Manager, NFLES and plays a key role in ensuring consistent delivery of quality services, including Food Services, Environmental Services, Laundry, and other related support areas. The Supervisor is responsible for hiring, orienting, scheduling, and coaching staff. This role interacts with members of the Hospitality team and other site staff on a daily basis, patients/residents, and suppliers as needed.

Strong conflict management skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressure to meet expectations are essential. In keeping with the Covenant Health’s Mission and Values and as an integral member of the NFLES team, the Supervisor organizes and supervises activities that support the provision of quality Hospitality services to patients/residents, and customers. The Supervisor is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management in alignment with Covenant Health policies and collective agreements. The role manages scheduling, attendance, payroll, and staff replacements while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational standards.

Working in collaboration with Human Resources, the Supervisor fosters a safe, efficient, and respectful work environment. This position implements and conducts audits, surveys, and other tools that promote quality services delivered in a cost effective manner;
Maintains effective communication with staff, patients, residents, and families to ensure smooth coordination of operational activities;
Organises, analyzes and reports financial statistics to ensure resource optimisation;
Implements action plans for various departmental activities;
Ensures front line staff receive required education and training both online and in person, as required;
Maintains and develops expertise in food service management, food production, environmental services management, laundry processing, and other hospitality services to improve efficiency and quality of service systems and to ensure patient/resident/customer needs are met;
Performs other related duties as required. In this frontline supervisory role, you will apply your critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills to positively impact the quality of care and comfort provided to those we serve. This position is non-unionised.
