Administrative Assistant – Temporary
We are excited to have a Temporary Administrative Assistant opportunity available immediately until August 31, 2026. Lethbridge School Division embraces diversity and functions in a dynamic, innovative, and fast paced environment.
To help support student success, we are looking for flexible, empathetic, optimistic, and patient individuals to work as part of a dynamic team. The Administrative Assistant is directly responsible for all administrative support functions and processes within the office. Responsibility also includes performing specialized administrative support functions and supervising School Support staff. Administrative support functions include maintaining all school and student records, accounting and budget functions, providing input to administrative plans, reception, word processing, purchasing and inventory control.
The Administrative Assistant also coordinates information and provides special reports for internal and external use.
- Perform administrative support functions including maintaining records, accounting, budgeting, reception, word processing, purchasing, inventory control, and reporting.
- Supervise School Support staff, ensuring work standards, timelines, and training.
- Coordinate information for internal and external use, including participation in internal committees.
- Maintain relationships with students, parents, staff, and division officials.
- Post‑secondary diploma in office/business administration or related field; proof of Grade 12 or GED.
- Demonstrated experience in school administration, student records, budget management, and purchasing.
- Proficiency in Power School, PASI, Extranet, School Cash, ADW, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, multitask, and serve diverse needs of an elementary school.
- Background checks: police information check, intervention record check, photo , SIN.
35.00 hours/week, Monday‑Friday.

- 8:00 am – 4:15 pm Monday‑Thursday
- 8:00 am – 12:45 pm Friday
This position follows the assigned Administrative Assistant Elementary School calendar and includes a summer break beginning July 4, 2026, with return in mid‑August 2026.
Essential Skills & Experience- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations of the school division and Alberta Education.
- Manage budget lines, accounts payable, vendor payments, and onsite cash management.
- Data and report management using Excel.
- Coordinate purchasing and ordering.
- Power School daily attendance, reporting, demographics, medical information.
- Cash on Line support for parents.
- Manage student registrations, cumulative files, and records.
- Conference management and parent‑teacher schedule coordination.
- Digital media: school website, Facebook, Twitter.
- School publications and programs editing and desktop publishing.
- Multi‑task in a very busy office and support as needed.
- Computer proficiency may be tested.
- Wage range: $28.43 – $30.52 per hour.
