A Head Resident Assistant (HRA) is an exemplary Lethbridge Polytechnic student, leader, and mentor who offers support to the Residence community and Resident Assistant team.
Position DetailsHRAs have core responsibilities within the areas of team development, programming, Residence community management, and administrative support. HRAs are expected to adhere to, administer, and enforce policies and procedures in accordance with the philosophies of Lethbridge Polytechnic and Residence Life.
The Head Resident Assistant position is a para‑professional position designed for those individuals who are looking for a more in‑depth experience in Residence Life work and would be well‑suited for those who may be interested in entering the field of Student Affairs or other person‑centric positions. Head Resident Assistants will work in conjunction with the Residence Life Coordinator in supporting and implementing the mission, goals, and initiatives of the Residence & Student Life department and Lethbridge Polytechnic.
CommunityDevelopment & Management
- Assisting the RA team with planning, organizing, and hosting small‑scale events + passive programming
- Facilitating and participating in RA team meetings
- Assisting RLC with planning/executing RA training, larger‑scale Residence Life events and Polytechnic events
- Organizing the monthly RA shift/office hour schedules
- Assisting the RA on‑duty with call response and enforcement of community standards
- Using critical thinking skills to determine how to manage a residence issue/incident
- Determining when to upgrade call response (i.e., when to involve Security, Police, EMS, etc.)
- Lethbridge Polytechnic student in good academic standing (minimum 1.5 GPA)
- At least one semester working as a Lethbridge Polytechnic Resident Assistant
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- At least one semester living in Lethbridge Polytechnic Residence
- Outgoing, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow procedures
- Demonstrate confidence and the ability to enforce residence policies and report incidents
- Creative and able to organize and execute an event/activity plan
- Take initiative and work with minimal supervision
$991.60 per 11 on‑call shifts; AUPE Class Level 1, Step 1 $ 16.25 per hour
