The roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Craftsperson to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity to progress through a structured training programme. You will be required to carry out full training for Overhead Line Maintenance and construction techniques, also, training packages are available for cable jointing up to 33000v. In Shetland we support over 13500 homes and businesses over a diverse area.
We operate and maintain a distribution network which includes 1600km of overhead lines, underground cables and 200 substations.
- Carry out construction and repair work on all our networks from LV up to and including 11/33kV and will be working at height.
- Be responsible for the safety of yourself and colleagues, whilst acting as an ambassador for a strong safety culture in everything you do.
- Be required to respond quickly to any emergency situations that may arise as we want to provide the best possible service to our customers in their time of need.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions with a requirement to undertake out of hours standby duties and short notice attendance for storm situations.
- Worked in a similar role previously and have a knowledge of electrical equipment as this would be advantageous.
- A flexible approach to complete out of hours standby duties and attend short notice work in the event of severe weather.
- The ability to work well in a team as well as individually is crucial and you must have excellent communication skills.
- A high regard for safety, embedding yourself in our safety culture and adhering to guidelines in everything you do is a key priority.
A full UK driving licence is essential for this position.
