Band 5 Salary Range £34,544 £ 43,039 per annum**

Distant Island Allowance of £2,578 per annum (pro rata)

We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer to join NHS Shetland’s Information Governance team. You will manage the day‑to‑day handling of FOI and Environmental Information requests, providing clear, accurate and legally compliant responses within statutory timescales.

Working closely with services across the organisation, you will help identify information, apply exemptions appropriately and support staff to meet their responsibilities. The role requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to explain complex information clearly. This is an opportunity to contribute to transparency, accountability and good governance across NHS Shetland.

Manage day‑to‑day handling of FOI and Environmental Information requests, ensuring accurate and legally compliant responses within statutory timescales.

Identify relevant information, apply exemptions appropriately, and support staff to meet their responsibilities.

Work closely with services across the organisation to promote transparency, accountability and good governance.

Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to explain complex information clearly.

Compliance with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of commencing the role.
