Overview
Full time 37 hours per week (reducing to 36 hours from 01/04/2026). Distant Island Allowance of £2,482 per annum. Band 2 – Salary Range £28,011 - £30,230 per annum. An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Support Worker (PSW). The post holder will work alongside Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists to ensure medicines are provided safely and efficiently within the hospital, vaccination centre and other NHS sites.
Substantive post held for the role with the same terms outlined above.
Responsibilities- Fulfil a vital role within the dispensary receiving and distributing medications, stock management, dispensing of medicines, vaccine service, and a top-up service to wards and departments within the hospital.
- Conduct date checking, cleaning and general administrative work including filing.
- Minimum of 3 standard grades or equivalent in English, Mathematics and at least one other subject. Previous experience is not necessary as training will be provided.
- The role requires working towards a vocational training programme: SVQ in Pharmacy Services (SCQF Level
6). Time during work will be provided for this training. - You will be expected to comply with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of commencing your role.
As from 01/04/2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata. There will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
