The course provides newly seeded bentgrass greens, Bermuda tees, Bermuda fairways cool season rough. Club amenities include a full-length driving range, practice chipping and putting green, a fully stocked golf shop, locker rooms, a large aquatic facility, tennis courts, and it is home to the Ironwood Grill for relaxing after your round.
It has been the host of the Southern Maryland Amateur Invitational since 1978, with over 180 competitors.
Breton Bay Golf & Country Club is seeking a motivated Second Assistant Superintendent to join the golf course maintenance team. This entry-to-mid level management position works under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent and is ideal for an individual looking to advance their career in golf course management.
The Second Assistant Superintendent plays a hands-on role in daily course maintenance while developing leadership, agronomic, and technical skills in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and course grounds
- Lead small crews and oversee specific daily assignments as directed
- Help with fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticide applications including mixing, calibration, and application
- Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and basic repairs
- Instruct and support staff in safe equipment operation and maintenance
- Participate in mowing, cultural practices, course setup, and special projects
- Monitor course conditions and communicate issues to supervisory staff
- Maintain accurate records related to chemical applications and maintenance activities
- Support safety programs and promote a positive and professional work environment
- Basic to working knowledge of golf course turf management practices
- Desire to grow professionally within the golf industry
- Ability to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Degree or certificate in turfgrass management (preferred but not required)
- Valid driver’s license
- Maryland pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
- $20 to $23 an hour
