Leonardtown Surgery Center is seeking a per diem First Assist Registered Nurse!

First Assist Registered Nurse at Leonardtown Surgery Center

• Functions as a first assistant during surgical incision, excision, and repair of pathology and throughout the perioperative period on procedures for which privileges have been granted.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all age patients in operating room.
• Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center.
• Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members.
• May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Nurse Manager of the Operating Room and/or Director of Nursing, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.

• Current RN licensed in the state of Maryland/
• CPR required, advanced life support certification required.
• One year experience required intra-operative setting.
• Two years perioperative services experience preferred.
• Completion of an RNFA Program.
• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
• Excellent knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique
• Ability to prepare reports and keep records.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
• Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians

Pay Range: Min: $50.00/hr to Max: $60.00/hr (Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.)
