Sr. Aquatic Specialist
Hiring Rate: $36,427.60 (DOQ)
General Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position will plan, organize, direct, and control activities pertaining to the operation of a whirlpool, indoor, outdoor, and wading pools at a community recreation facility. Duties will include staff training and development, pool chemical monitoring and maintenance to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, aquatic program development and implementation, facility supervision, staff scheduling, and public relations through community involvement. Reports directly to Aquatic Director.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of recreation facilities and equipment, recreation methods and techniques, and facility management methods with a strong knowledge of aquatics. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of subordinates; deal courteously with the public and other employees; and maintain and prepare accurate records and reports. Must be able to assist facility Director with planning & organizing special events (5K’s, 10K’s, triathlons, Halloween festival etc.).
Must comply with customer service training.
Current Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuer, Automated External Defibrillator, and Certified Pool Operator Certification are required. Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor certifications are strongly preferred or must obtain these certifications within 6 months of hire date. Valid NC Drivers License required. Ability to lift 50 lbs. A 4 year degree is preferred with some experience in organized parks and recreation, including supervisory experience but not required.
WorkingHours
Monday – Friday 6am to 2pm & occasional weekends as needed. Must be available to work a varying schedule including mornings, weekends and some holidays.
