Position OverviewTEK Systems is seeking skilled Cable Technicians to support the construction and deployment of a new Google data center. This role involves installing, testing, and maintaining structured cabling systems in a high‑performance, enterprise‑grade environment. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure all infrastructure meets strict quality and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities- Install, route, and secure copper and fiber‑optic cabling throughout the data center.
- Build and dress racks, cabinets, ladder racks, and cable trays.
- Terminate and test CAT6/CAT6A, single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber, and other structured cabling components.
- Perform cable labeling, documentation, and pathway management according to project standards.
- Assist with installation of patch panels, network hardware, and cross‑connects.
- Conduct cable certification using Fluke or equivalent testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and ensure all cabling meets performance and safety requirements.
- Follow all site security, safety, and compliance protocols required for Google data center environments.
- Collaborate with construction teams, electricians, and network engineers to support build milestones.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- 1–3+ years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or data center environments.
- Strong knowledge of copper and fiber installation standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI best practices).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, cable maps, and rack elevations.
- Experience with fiber polishing, splicing, or testing is a plus.
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure such as hot/cold aisles, containment, and rack systems.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in physically demanding environments.

This is a Contract position based out of Lenoir, NC.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 – $21.00 per hour.
