SummaryThis is professional level work involving the evidence-based evaluation of patient disabilities, planning, and administration of physical therapy treatments. Incumbents complete documentation, instruct patients, families, and students, and participate in clinical program development and management. The clinician is expected to be involved in continuing education, departmental and community activities, outreach education, and serve as a preceptor to students.
The ideal candidate would be comfortable covering both acute care and outpatient care if needed.
Responsibilities- Diagnostic Testing: Administers basic & complex diagnostic tests and evaluations in the area of Physical Therapy for the treatment of mobility disorders and related impairments.
- Education: Teach & supervise graduate Physical Therapy students and/or clinical fellows/residents. Develop or contribute to innovative programs to enhance patient care. Serve as a resource consultant to other clinicians in the respective specialty area.
- Evaluation of Care: Analyze results of diagnostic and therapeutic testing to establish patient goals and modify treatment programs. Identify expected patient outcomes. Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Implementation: Select and apply current and advanced techniques to provide quality and efficient rehabilitative services. Provide habilitation/rehabilitation and maintenance of persons with mobility-related impairments. Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs.
- Outreach/Community Involvement: Serve as a resource to North Carolina government departments and statewide health professionals. Present at local and state levels, participate in community health screenings and events. Develop new clinical programs to meet emerging needs in collaboration with the clinical specialist and/or department director.
- Participation: Contribute to the quality of clinical services through attendance and participation in departmental meetings and in-services.
- Quality: Maintain valid & reliable records of patient procedures & progress. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous quality improvement efforts with healthcare professionals and department leadership.
Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina. BLS certification.
Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required.
