Public Services/Public Utilities Water Treatment Division Starting Salary: DOQ as listed below- $36,427.60 – Grade B Certification
- $37,338.30 – Grade A Certification
Operate and perform maintenance on a variety of machines, equipment and control mechanisms in water treatment facilities; conduct routine laboratory tests of water samples; and maintain records.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust have working knowledge of the standard practices, tests, and equipment used in the treatment of water. Must have a working knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of machines and equipment used in water treatment. Must have ability to conduct a variety of standard tests and prepare reports and records. This position requires the physical ability to lift approximately 55 lbs.,
reach overhead, twist, climb, kneel and squat. This is a night shift position, working three nights per week and will include weekend and holiday work as necessary.
Completion of high school. Prefer applicants with some experience in water treatment work. Must possess at least a Grade C Certificate in Surface Water Treatment or be willing to obtain within one year of employment. Trainees (uncertified employees) will receive a temporary reduction in pay of 5% off the pay plan until certification is obtained. Employees certified at a level higher than a Grade C Certificate in Water Treatment will receive pay at a higher level according to the Pay Plan.
