Under the direction of the Fabrication Manager you will be responsible for the operation of fabrication equipment such as MIG welding (Aluminium, stainless steel and galvanised), hydraulic presses, punch presses and other equipment and tools to cut, form and attach metal together. You may also rivet, spot weld or solder pieces together to fabricate raw material for assembly of product. You will read and interpret existing blueprints.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Review equipment to ensure preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as welding (MIG welding Aluminium, stainless steel), hydraulic presses and punch presses and other equipment and tools to cut, form and attach metal together.
- Assist with the set‑up, preventive maintenance, operation and quality of all equipment in the Fabrication department such as welder machines, form rollers, tube cutter, etc.
- Ensure that the work area is kept clean, organised and safe.
- Perform safety and housekeeping activities.
- May assist in training Fabricators.
- HS Diploma, equivalent certification or work experience.
- One year experience operating metal fabrication equipment and welding.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Dependable, accurate, customer‑oriented and possess a strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks.
- Mechanically minded and willing to be cross‑trained in a variety of Fabrication functions.
- Consistently puts forth exceptional effort, works efficiently and is able to keep up with assigned workload.
- Ability to motivate self to achieve the company’s goals on safety, quality, productivity and customer service.
- Willing to work in areas outside of direct responsibility when needed.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
- Must be able to bend and reach items at ground level and above the head.
- Must be able to work on feet, standing and walking throughout the factory for up to 10 hours per day.
- Must be able to wear PPE, including safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves and face shields.
- Fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, moderate noise levels and varying temperatures; requires adherence to safety protocols and teamwork in a production‑driven atmosphere.
- May be exposed to loud, repetitive sounds from machinery or equipment.
- May use chemicals or other substances in accordance with MSDS.
- May operate machinery in close proximity or with objects exposed to eyes or face.
