Job Summary

Job : R-49337 Job Type: Part time Location: Lenexa, Kansas

Position Summary / Career Interest: The Scheduling Representative works as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. Support is provided to the clinicians for the day to day operations. The Scheduling Representative performs routine scheduling of new and follow‑up appointments requested by patients and providers, maintains compliance with 3rd party payers, and provides exceptional customer service. They may also assist other administrative staff with overflow work.

Responsibilities

and Essential Job Functions
  • Routinely maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Complete order entry using hospital information system or manual order forms (test requisitions) including cancellation or modification of orders as required.
  • Review all clinic orders for date, time, signature, and pagers.
  • Apply patient labels to progress notes, order forms, and other patient‑specific forms as needed.
  • Complete needed filing/record keeping.
  • Call for consults using appropriate consult forms as a guide.
  • Call support and ancillary departments as needed (EVS, transport, lab, pharmacy, radiology, volunteer, etc.).
  • Transport items to ancillary departments as needed (blood to laboratory, retrieve/deliver patient belongings, charts to medical records, etc.) and pick up any items if required.
  • Ensure that supplies are stocked, including copy, printer, and fax machines with paper and all forms.
  • Schedule follow‑up appointments for patients (clinics, outpatient radiology, etc.).
  • Identify insurance plans and specific procedures which need to be pre‑approved; pre‑certify required tests and procedures.
  • Enter referrals and pre‑certifications in hospital information system, make copies and forward to appropriate parties.
  • Assist team members as assigned/needed.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required

Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate or GED.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree in business or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a hospital environment.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a direct customer service environment.
Knowledge Requirements
  • Advanced keyboarding skills, proficient in computer languages such as Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
