About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our aerial data acquisition and analysis operations. This position requires a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
, the ability to drive
, travel to job sites, and perform physically demanding tasks in the field. You’ll gain valuable experience operating drones in real-world environments and assisting in data processing workflows, analysis, and reporting.
- Operate drones in compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations
- Assist with flight planning, including site research and risk assessment
- Conduct field missions for data collection with our custom Decker platform
- Perform drone equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Transfer and organize large datasets collected in the field
- Assist with post-processing and analysis of aerial data using tools such as Decker and DJI Software Suite.
- Maintain detailed flight logs and QA/QC documentation
- Lift and transport equipment (up to 50 pounds) as needed
- Travel to and from project sites, sometimes involving overnight stays
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure safe, efficient field operations
- Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to field locations
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork (travel may include overnights)
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of data processing and drone workflows
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, Aviation, or a related field
- Experience with drone platforms (DJI, Freefly, etc.) and mapping software (e.g., Pix4D, Global Mapper)
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Field experience in UAV data collection and processing
- Hands-on training with industry-standard software and equipment
