The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Specialist is responsible for supporting project teams through virtual design and construction activities. This role serves as a key VDC/BIM resource, generating high-quality models, supporting coordination efforts, and helping teams improve constructability and project execution through technology.
This position is well-suited for someone who can work independently
, support teams across multiple offices, and act as a go-to VDC/BIM resource within the organization.
- Generate and maintain high-quality Building Information Models (BIM) and content for project teams
- Provide technical support to project teams using VDC applications, with a primary focus on Revit and Navisworks
- Create 4D schedule visualizations and construction sequencing models
- Manage or assist with building and system model coordination meetings
- Develop building and system models at varying levels of detail for construction trades
- Adjust building system models to support constructability and field execution
- Create visualizations to support site logistics and planning
- Assist Preconstruction teams with quantity takeoff activities as needed
- Serve as a VDC/BIM resource within the technology team (VDC/BIM is the primary responsibility)
- Research new technologies that support construction delivery
- Support project teams located in multiple offices as needed
- Attend VDC-related training or industry events as required
- This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes
- All other tasks as assigned
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent experience
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Working knowledge of drafting and modeling software,
including Revit and Navisworks (primary tools) - Experience with AutoCAD or Sketch Up is a plus
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and handle challenging situations professionally
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a decentralized team across multiple locations
- Open to entry-level through highly experienced candidates
- Ability to learn quickly and contribute effectively is more important than years of experience
- Healthcare / medical project experience is a strong plus
- Data center experience is not required but may be considered a plus
- Ability to continuously sit, stand, or walk
- Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in heat or cold, work outside, and work in high elevations
