Position Overview

We are looking for a Design Project Manager to join our Industrial team, to support overall building design execution and coordination of overall multi‑discipline personnel supporting the project, including performance and development. This position is similar to a building Architectural or MEP design “project manager”. In this role, you will be the primary interface with proposal and project teams, supporting your assigned projects(s) from concept into execution, working in a highly matrixed environment.

You will drive estimating, productivity (schedule and quality) and monitor the project to ensure we will deliver on time and within budget for the overall building/facility.

This role is based out of our Lenexa, Kansas office.

Responsibilities
  • The individual leads the building project team, acting as the primary interface with project management and other project discipline leads. The building project team encompasses architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and BIM designers.
  • Manages and owns project performance (productivity, quality, schedule). Monitors project and team metrics and seeks out underperformance and develops and executes recovery plans as needed.
  • Supports project initiation and development in both the estimate and execution phases to ensure projects are set up for success.
  • Manages project staffing needs to properly support each project with a mindset of serving both the project and the development of the team through setting and managing high expectations.
  • Drives communication within the project team and various stakeholders ensuring understanding of ongoing activities, contractual requirements, budget, and overall project schedule.
  • Collaborates with the estimating department, bringing lessons from production.
  • Serves as the building lead with understanding the entire building scope of a project, acting as the primary interface with procurement, construction, the client, and project management regarding building design and execution.
  • Maintains and continues to develop relationships with EPC project stakeholders as the representative for IBG’s center of excellence for buildings.
  • Attends weekly project meetings, including Leads Coordination Meeting, Project Controls, Procurement and internal coordination, providing accurate forecasting of project manpower needs to IBG department managers.
  • Defines and owns project schedules and various document control metrics.
  • Drives the EPC mindset on the project team.
  • Knows the project contract requirements and what was included in the project estimate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering.
