Overview
Johnson County Park & Recreation District is seeking a proven leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high profile, and progressive environment to join its Gold Medal Team as JCPRD continues unprecedented growth through the development of new parks, trails, recreation facilities, programs and events. This position will substitute at our Before/After School Care programs, as well as our Early Childhood Education Programs.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for daily care and supervision of children. Purchase program supplies, equipment, and food items as needed within budgetary guidelines. Ensure the general health, welfare, and well-being of each child. Carry out daily lessons and maintain Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirements for both staff and children. Responsible for being a good communicator to all children, parents, administration, supervisors, and co-workers, providing excellent customer service.
Enroll and attend 15 hours of off-site in-service annually. Learn and observe all JCPRD guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Locations: 19310 W. 159th Street, Olathe, KS 66062 (daily location will vary)
Days:
Monday - Friday
Hours:
6-8 hour shift between 7:00 A.M.
- 6:00 P.M. (additional hours may be necessary)

Qualifications- Educational Requirements:
Required – High School Graduate, minimum of fifteen credit hours in Education Recreation, or Early Childhood Education. Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education, Administration of Parks and Recreation, Early Childhood, Child Psychology, or relevant field. - Professional
Experience:
Required – 1 year experience in school age and/or early childhood setting. - Required Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices. Self-motivation and ability to prioritize personal responsibilities and accomplish job tasks with autonomy from close supervision. Leadership and supervisory skills. - Background Checks:
Must successfully pass a driving, education, and criminal background check.
