The Senior Construction Estimator’s responsibilities include overseeing each project from conception to the finished structure, interfacing with construction professionals, city municipalities, utility, engineering and architect companies and client. Senior Construction Estimator will plan, direct, coordinate, pull permits, write contracts, budget and schedule activities involved with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of construction projects – write specifications, bidding, review bids, award/issue contracts and review/approve invoices.
EssentialFunctions
- Procure bids / estimates and prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual bids with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors as directed.
- Schedule projects in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
- Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
- Plan, organize and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities and systems.
- Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations. Ensure safety OSHA and EPA compliance.
- Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
- Other duties as necessary.
- Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or construction‑related.
- 5+ years construction project management or construction site superintendent or estimating experience.
- Experience in building or bidding luxury apartment communities preferred.
- Ability to organize and direct oneself and effectively supervise others.
- Strong oral and written communication with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to recognize courses of action to resolve problems, and apply contingency plans to solve those problems.
- Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines, manage daily tasks and delegation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Physical DemandsConstant need to be standing on feet, bending/stooping/squatting/kneeling, climb stairs, push or pull, reach above shoulder level, climb ladders, grasp/grip and finger dexterity to handle tools and equipment. The employee must be physically fit to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Job RequirementsDemonstrates good communication skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with fluent understanding of English.
