Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Lenexa, Kansas. This role is ideal for professionals with a solid accounting background, particularly in the construction industry, who excel at managing month-end processes and maintaining precise financial records. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical accounting functions and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and execute month-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries align with organizational policies.

- Oversee accounting for work-in-progress (WIP) and job cost tracking to support project profitability analysis.

- Apply revenue recognition principles to accurately account for earned revenue in compliance with relevant standards.

- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to analyze financial data related to construction projects.

- Prepare detailed financial reports and summaries for management review.

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting workflows and efficiency.

- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and accounting practices.

- Support audits by providing required documentation and resolving inquiries.

- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures for the organization. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.

- Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger management.

- Solid understanding of work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and job costing.

- Experience with revenue recognition principles and their application.

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in financial reporting.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

- Knowledge of construction industry accounting practices and standards.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
