The Senior Staff Accountant supports core accounting, reporting, and compliance activities across a growing, multi-entity organization. This role has been elevated due to business needs and is a key addition to the finance team, reporting directly to accounting leadership. The position offers exposure to a broad range of responsibilities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant seeking increased ownership and variety, as well as professionals who enjoy flexibility, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including registrations, filings, and payments
- Partner with external tax advisors and assist with nexus research
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Prepare and post journal entries and support general ledger maintenance
- Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts)
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Assist with inventory tracking, reconciliation, and reporting
- Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits
- Maintain accurate accounting records and organized documentation
- Respond to internal accounting and reporting inquiries
Expanded Responsibilities (Based on Experience)
- Independently manage complex reconciliations and close activities
- Assist with financial reporting, analysis, and variance explanations
- Support internal controls and accounting process documentation
- Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
- Assist with accounting system enhancements or implementations
- Provide informal guidance or support to junior team members
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience
- 4–7 years of accounting experience preferred
- Public accounting or outsourced accounting experience is a plus
- Experience in project-based or multi-entity environments is beneficial
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central or similar preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Hybrid work flexibility (typically remote two days per week)
- Collaborative finance team with cross-functional exposure

- Salary range: $75,000–$90,000, depending on experience
