Position: FFSP Associate Generalist Counselor with Security Clearance

Overview

FFSP Associate Generalist Counselor with Security Clearance is a pre-licensed clinical counselor position located within the Counseling and Advocacy Program (CAP) at the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. FFSC provides programs to active duty, reservists, retirees, and their families, including counseling, consultations, referrals, workshops, and other services to enhance personal and family resiliency. The primary purpose is to provide individual, couples, family, and group counseling to active-duty personnel, retired military members, reserve components, and their families.

The role focuses on family dynamics, couples  communication, stress reduction, and adjustment to military life. Clinical duties include psychosocial assessment, treatment plan development, treatment delivery, and appropriate referrals. The position also supports Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and Sailor Assistance and Intercept for Life (SAIL) case management, among other duties, to address intimate partner violence, child abuse, and suicide-related concerns as applicable.

The incumbent may facilitate support groups or trainings and develop programs to promote healthy family relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, couples, family, and group counseling to active-duty personnel, retirees, reserve members, and their families.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, deliver treatment, and coordinate referrals.
  • Manage Family Advocacy Program (FAP) case work including identification, reporting, safety planning, psychosocial and risk assessments, treatment planning, referral, and follow-up for intimate partner violence and child abuse cases.
  • Manage Sailor Assistance and Intercept for Life (SAIL) case management including assessment, safety planning, and care coordination for suicide-related behavior.
  • Facilitate support groups or seminars/trainings focused on prevention and intervention.
  • Plan, develop, and implement programs to foster positive family relationships.
  • Develop and maintain professional standards of service and a network with other service providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • A valid State driver s license is required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation and obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance (T3).
  • A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any scheduled appointments.
  • Must be current in continuing education credits/units.
  • Position is subject to the Health Practitioner Credential Review and Privileging requirements.
  • Must have a Master s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in the state of California as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate Social Worker, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.
  • Candidate must be able to be privileged at a Tier I level per SECNAV 1754.8.
  • Must be current in continuing education credits, be able to provide master s level transcripts, a copy of current state associate registration, and obtain peer level clinical references.
  • Knowledge of military lifestyle demands and their impact on individuals and families is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dynamics and diagnostic skills for family violence identification, risk assessment, and safety planning.
  • Ability to interview and respond to client needs, including assessing suicidal and homicidal ideations and substance abuse.
  • Ability to communicate in writing for case management memos, correspondence, and reports; to document psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and FAP reports.
  • Ability to use a computer and software programs to develop multi-media presentations and facilitate work assignments.
  • Must communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Education
  • Master s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Fully meet the Tier I SECNAVINST 1754.8 requirements.
