Overview

You’ll be joining one of the UK’s largest and most ambitious infrastructure projects and play a key role in delivering the next generation of low‑carbon nuclear power. Sizewell C is recruiting talented Project Managers to drive forward critical engineering, procurement and manufacturing activities within the Civil Works Alliance (CWA).

About the Role

As a Project Manager, you will lead the engineering progression and Civil construction sequence. A key priority is the replication of detailed design from Hinkley Point C (HPC), enabling standardisation, efficiency and assured delivery across the programme.

You will work closely with the SZC supply chain team, the Responsible Designer (RD), SZC Quality teams, and a wide network of suppliers to prepare for and execute the delivery phase. Working within an alliance structure, you will ensure seamless coordination across multiple disciplines, contractors and programme areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the delivery of engineering work streams within the Civil Works Alliance.
  • Ensure maximum replication of HPC detailed design to reduce schedule and delivery risk.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, designers, quality teams and suppliers to secure delivery readiness.
  • Manage engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities to time, cost, quality and safety requirements.
  • Define work scope and manage interfaces with adjacent contracts, systems and programme elements.
  • Lead early engagement with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, resolve issues and drive innovation.
  • Oversee technical aspects of procurement, delivery methodologies and engineering change.
  • Ensure lessons learned, knowledge capture and replication of HPC good practice are embedded.
  • Develop and implement strategies aligned to the Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Drive delivery, ensuring contractual requirements and technical specifications are fully met.

The Civil Works Programme comprises a series of major projects delivered over a 10‑year period, forming the civil engineering backbone of the Sizewell C plant. It includes:

  • Enabling & Earthworks:
Sea defences, access infrastructure, site establishment works, diaphragm walling, dewatering, excavation and extensive earthworks.
  • Construction of the beach landing facility, jetty, shafts and intake/outfall tunnels for the cooling water systems.
  • Main Civil Engineering:
Technical galleries, cooling system pipework, foundation base slabs and over 70 major buildings across the Nuclear, Conventional and Heat Sink islands.
  • Successful delivery requires close integration with Site Establishment, Site Operations and the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical & Heating) Alliance.
  • Maximise replication of HPC design, limiting First‑of‑a‑Kind engineering to site‑specific elements.
  • Implement a programme management structure that supports simple, efficient delivery.
  • Apply learning from HPC to enhance productivity, working methods and site processes.
  • Intelligently replicate the HPC supply chain to minimise risk and reduce mobilisation timelines.
  • Operate within an alliance model that embeds collaborative behaviours and shared success.
Principal Accountabilities

The Project Manager will:

  • Lead interfaces with the Engineering and Technical teams to ensure timely design delivery and incorporation of HPC lessons learned.
  • Manage engineering studies by the RD and contractors, ensuring outputs meet SZC requirements.
  • Drive implementation of SZC site‑specific…
