Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean‑up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

This is a driving delivery technical liaison role, which manages materials and equipment in the field and drives/liaises/contributes to the technical solutions proposed by Engineering in order to safely deliver field works.
It is a key communication role between Engineering and the General Operatives team, with the technical skills to solve problems in advance of field activities.
Note the working hours are 07.25 – 17.00, Monday to Thursday, perfect for someone looking for a four‑day working week.
We also welcome applications for those looking to develop and therefore may not meet all the essential criteria for the role. In these circumstances there may be a lower grade offered for a development opportunity. The successful candidate would be considered on a case‑by‑case basis and supported with a PDP (Personal Development Plan) to enable a clear path for progression into the role.
- Technical liaison with Engineering, ensuring the solutions proposed can be implemented by the Programmes/Decommissioning field teams.
- Manages the Programmes rigging stores and liaises with designated LOLER compliance insurance Inspector for Statutory Maintenance compliance.
- Attends and inputs into planning and Project meetings when required.
- Conducts mechanical maintenance routines on Programme equipment including Ultra High Pressure (UHP) cutting machine, Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs) – Training to be provided.
- Generates Work Requests on Asset Suite 9 – Training to be provided.
- Generates Work Order Cards on Asset Suite 9 for SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons) Engineering approval – Training to be provided.
- Reviews Work Instructions ensuring the content can be simply conveyed and implemented by the field team.
- Has the skills to fabricate and manufacture small scale equipment/tooling to assist with the delivery of decommissioning scope.
- Drive and deliver the decommissioning mission, as instructed by your Team Leader.
- Maintain the standards required in personal, industrial, radiological, and nuclear safety procedures by ensuring compliance with Site and Control documentation.
- Complies with the Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments. Support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality on Site.
- Actively support and encourage the use of Human Performance Error Prevention Tools.
