As Academy Physiotherapist, you will act as the primary clinical lead for dedicated squads (U19, U17 or U12-U16), delivering high-quality physiotherapy & rehabilitation services to optimise player health, availability, and readiness for professional football. You will integrate closely with athletic development, sport science, psychology, and coaching staff. The role focuses on accurate assessment, evidence-based treatment, structured rehabilitation, and proactive case management aligned with the Academy’s Return to Performance Pathway.
You will support transition players, uphold clinical standards, and ensure all documentation, communication, and rehabilitation processes reflect the expectations of an elite performance environment. Furthermore, you will support players transitioning from clinical recovery to athletic readiness, ensuring consistent progression toward football integration.

About theRole RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, applying evidence-based clinical reasoning with calmness and clarity under pressure
- Lead rehabilitation programme design and progression, integrating gym- and pitch-based reconditioning while adapting to individual player responses
- Manage all injury cases proactively, communicating clearly and empathetically with coaches, MDT staff, and families when required
- Maintain high-quality documentation (injury notes, treatment logs, rehab plans) with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail
- Support screening, profiling, and prevention, translating findings into individualised prehab plans with strong player engagement
- Provide daily training and matchday medical support, demonstrating professionalism, composure, and readiness to act in high-pressure situations
- Collaborate effectively within the MDT, contributing positively to shared planning, load management, and transition-player processes
- Engage in CPD, reflective practice, and departmental learning, showing curiosity, self-awareness, and a growth-oriented mindset
- Full professional registration/licence to practise
- Additional qualifications in sports medicine, rehabilitation, or emergency care (desirable)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in elite sport, preferably football or high-performance youth environments, with the professionalism to lead a squad clinically
- Strong assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation skills, combining technical precision with the emotional intelligence to motivate injured players
- Understanding of rehabilitation and reconditioning progressions across early-, mid-, and late-stage phases, including pitch-based progression
- Clear communication and influence skills — able to build trust with players, staff, and coaches through honesty, empathy, and clarity
- Strong organisation and consistency in planning, documentation, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset — works effectively across disciplines, valuing input from others and maintaining a positive team environment
- Adaptability and problem-solving ability — able to respond to unexpected changes, adjust plans, and find solutions under time pressure
- Commitment to continuous learning, reflective practice, and maintaining high professional and interpersonal standards
- Fluent German and fluent or near-fluent English. French language skill is also a desirable asset
