Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Luton
Salary: £35,000 £ 37,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a fast-growing engineering business that is doubling in size. This role is ideally suited to an engineering graduate with 1 2 years of industry experience who is looking to develop their career in a hands-on, production-focused environment.

You will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, improving production processes, and contributing to the successful industrialisation of new and existing products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you ll help drive a right-first-time culture in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

• Design and develop manufacturing tooling and processes to support the production of metallic systems

• Create, maintain, and improve manufacturing instructions and standard operating procedures

• Support the industrialisation of new products, using structured project management approaches

• Provide engineering support to production, optimising tooling and processes for existing products

• Work closely with suppliers to source and manage replacement tooling

• Use root cause and corrective action (RCCA) techniques to resolve production issues

• Lead continuous improvement projects from concept through to implementation

• Uphold engineering and production standards, including 5S principles

• Evaluate and improve process efficiency through time and motion studies

• Use cost data to assess cost-effective manufacturing methods and design decisions

• Apply a range of continuous improvement tools to enhance production performance

• Ability to create manufacturing sequences for multi-level assemblies

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a changing environment

• Experience using MRP systems

• A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to rapidly iterate and improve processes

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to drive tasks to completion

• Ability to interpret cost data to support capital investment decisions

• Experience with welding processes and non-destructive testing is desirable

• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. MS Project) is desirable

• Experience conducting make vs buy assessments using cost data is desirable

• Degree in an engineering or science discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
