Victim First is a free and confidential service for victims and witnesses of crime across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, aiming to help them be resilient and cope with crime and anti-social behaviour through victim-centred support from local services, families and communities.

Role

As a Triage Caseworker, you will offer support to all victims and witnesses referred to the service (including self-referrals). You will provide information about the service and one-off emotional and/or practical support. You will build and sustain high-quality relationships with victims, offering practical and emotional support that builds confidence and trust. You will collaborate with a wide range of agencies to ensure a robust referral pathway and empower victims to feel supported and informed about their support journey.

You will be a passionate and experienced Caseworker with an understanding of the needs of victims and witnesses and how the Victim Service can address those needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a service to all victims and witnesses as appropriate.
  • Manage a caseload of referred victims and witnesses.
  • Access and guide victims and witnesses through administrative information and advice, including the use of a web-based information tool.
  • Work as part of a Victim Service team to ensure the delivery of high-quality restorative justice.
  • Provide information and explain the process and principles of restorative justice to identifiable victims of crime and offenders in the community and in custody.
  • Have a broad understanding of criminal justice processes and advise victims on matters such as victim–witness statements, court proceedings, and wider criminal justice system procedures.
Qualifications

As a Triage Caseworker, you will contact all referred victims and witnesses in the first instance. You will provide information about the service and one-off emotional and/or practical support. You will build and sustain high-quality relationships with victims and empower them to feel supported and informed of their support journey. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of agencies to ensure a robust referral pathway in place.

You will be a passionate and experienced Caseworker who demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the needs of victims and witnesses and how the Victim Service can address those needs.

Caseworkers must be available to work between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

Contract:

Fixed term – 12 months.

Hours:

Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Salary: £25,585 per annum.

Victim First, Leicestershire Police Headquarters, St Johns, Enderby, Leicestershire, LE19 2BX

Enhanced DBS check, police vetting check, and Right to Work in the UK. Catch
