HGV Mechanic vacancy in Leicester (288jc)
HGV Mechanic (288jc) – Leicester - £46k + O/T + Benefits
This role is ideally suited to ex-military vehicle or engineering technicians with experience maintaining, fault-finding and repairing heavy or specialist vehicles in high-standards environments.
You will work as part of a disciplined, professional workshop team, maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles to ensure maximum availability, safety and compliance.
Military experience such as REME Vehicle Mechanic, Recovery Mechanic, Artificer, RAF Mechanical Technician or RN Engineering Technician is highly transferable.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs
- Conduct pre-MOT inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT presentation
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults methodically and accurately
- Complete unscheduled repairs to restore vehicles to safe operational condition
- Undertake welding and fabrication where required
- Carry out bin and body repairs to a high standard
- Attend and complete internal and external training courses to maintain competence
- Complete all job cards, inspection reports and documentation accurately and on time, in line with legal and company requirements
- Work safely at all times in line with health, safety and environmental standards
- Willingness to undertake and pass relevant civilian qualifications (support provided)
- Military trade qualifications and experience will be fully recognised and valued

In this role you will be working an alternating shift pattern, week 1 being 0700 hrs to 1600 hrs Mon to Fri and week 2 being 0900 hrs to 1800 hrs Mon to Fri and Sat 0700 hr to 1100 hrs and your standard working week will be 42 hrs per week, with overtime at Time and a half and Sundays and bank holidays at Double time.
Please note that the 4 hrs on Saturday will attract the Time and a half salary rate.

And finally, there is also enhanced maternity and paternity and for the manager its two weeks company sick pay
