2nd / 3rd Line Application Support Analyst - Leicester

We're looking for an experienced and technically confident 2nd / 3rd Line Application Support Analyst to support a suite of critical legacy business applications. In this role, you'll play a key part in keeping our systems stable, secure, and reliable while we modernise our technology estate.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in complex environments, has a strong grasp of SQL, and enjoys digging deep into long-standing applications that remain essential to business operations. With progressional pathway to lead / management of the team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced 2nd and 3rd line support for a portfolio of legacy and core business applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents, performance issues, and data‑related problems.
- Write and optimise SQL queries to support investigations, reporting, and data integrity checks.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third‑party vendors to manage application bugs, patches, and upgrades.
- Maintain application documentation, support runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Support data extracts, integrations, and application configuration where required.
- Assist with planning and executing the decommissioning or migration of legacy systems.
- Participate in change management and release processes to ensure smooth deployment of updates.
- Proven experience in a 2nd or 3rd line support role, preferably within a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong hands‑on experience with SQL - writing queries, analysing data, and troubleshooting database issues.
- Experience supporting legacy applications and understanding their constraints and risks.
- Familiarity with Windows‑based systems, application servers, and basic networking concepts.
- Experience with ticketing systems (e.g. Jira, Service Now) and ITIL practices.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, and collaborate across teams.
- Bonus :
Experience in scripting (Power Shell, batch), working with on‑prem databases, or supporting business‑critical finance or insurance systems.
