We are looking for a Specialist Nurse – Cancer Services to join our team on a full‑time basis (37.5 hrs per week). Responsibilities- Deliver nursing services to patients within the unit and act as key worker within the multidisciplinary team, creating and maintaining a robust oncology and chemotherapy outpatient service.
- Provide exemplary planned care for patients and assist in the management and organisation of care provision in the Oncology Day Chemotherapy Centre.
- Assess patients' health and well‑being across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
- Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals' health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway.
- Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information related to cancer patient care.
- Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others in the management of SACT.
- Promote best practice in health and safety and security.
- Assist in maintaining and developing cancer services.
- Contribute to quality improvement within cancer services.
- Promote equality, diversity and rights.
- Acknowledge the risk of healthcare‑associated infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility in the prevention and control of HCAI.
- Registered Nurse.
- Qualified in venepuncture and cannulation and the use of CVADs with evidence of regular competency assessment.
- Qualified in the safe handling and administration of SACT (accredited course) with evidence of regular competency assessment.
- Working towards a post‑registration qualification in a clinical cancer specialism.
- Working in teams and case‑load holder.
- Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills to a range of complex and varied patient case mixes in individuals with a cancer diagnosis.
- Experience in a senior cancer nursing role.
- Proficient in venepuncture and cannulation and in the management of central venous access devices.
- Proficient in the administration of bolus and infusional chemotherapy.
- Possesses the mandatory training requirements listed above, including infection control and health and safety competencies.
- Demonstrates principles of accountable practice.
- English language – IELTS 7.0.
- Possesses equipment and medical devices competencies.
- Continuing professional development.
- Competent on MS Office and other relevant packages.
