Band 7 Non-Medical Prescriber – Neurodevelopmental
Neurodevelopmental Non-Medical prescriber CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Pathway. The CAMHS Neurodevelopmental (ND) Pathway is seeking an experienced Non-medical Prescriber (NMP) to join our diverse and innovative multi-disciplinary team to provide ADHD assessments for young people.
The post holder will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, undertaking responsibility for ND assessment, diagnosis and initiation of treatment, including medication if an NMP. They will work in a variety of settings, working closely with paediatricians, SALTs and liaising with CAMHS colleagues for selected cases to support an integrated delivery of quality care. The NMP will manage their own caseload while also supervising and assisting the ongoing development of other team members.
As a Band 7 neurodevelopmental specialist nurse, you must be qualified and experienced as a non‑medical prescriber. Working closely with paediatricians, you will effectively monitor and review medications used for ADHD, and independently run nurse‑led clinics to facilitate this. You should bring significant experience of working autonomously within a multi‑agency arena.
Staff development is a priority, and opportunities are available to build upon skills and knowledge that will enhance service provision. Working hours will be mainly Monday to Friday 9 am ‑ 5 pm. This role requires a full UK driving licence and access to a car during working hours.
Main Duties of the Job- Assessment and diagnosis of CYP within neurodevelopmental services.
- Hold a medication caseload and assess physical health and monitoring in line with safe prescribing guidelines.
- Work within the outpatient service to undertake initial assessments of new referrals alongside MDT colleagues.
- Supervise and assist in the development of other team members.
- Provide clinical supervision and line management of staff in accordance with NMC and trust policies.
- Manage own caseload and liaise with paediatricians to monitor and review ADHD medications.
- Run nurse‑led clinics independently to facilitate treatment of ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
