We are looking for a ward clerk cover for the maternity wards to work shifts for over 3/4 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays.

We require a reliable and highly organised individual with excellent communication skills. The position is available at both Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital.

You must demonstrate an adaptable, enthusiastic approach and the ability to manage competing demands within a busy clinical area. You will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team, communicating with patients, families and clinical staff in the ward environment. Courteous, respectful and helpful demeanor at all times is essential.

The successful post holder will provide and maintain an efficient and effective administration service to the ward team, including previous administration experience and computer skills.

Responsibilities
  • To treat all patients, visitors and colleagues with courtesy and respect; maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy environment, and reporting all incidents/accidents to Senior Staff.
  • To keep patient centre system up to date, including admission, transfers and discharges of patients.
  • To be responsible for inpatient/outpatient notes ensuring:
    • They are available and ready for use when needed
    • Reports, care plans etc. are filed in notes
    • Notes are available for coding after discharge of patients
    • All medical staff/midwifery staff sign results and ensure timely filing of results

    Additional Information

    As the successful candidate you will need to answer the telephone from staff, patients and their friends & family, arrange appointments for patients, and maintain confidentiality at all times. You will be the first point of contact from patients and staff, answer the ward buzzer, and confirm identities and reasons for visits. Good filing skills and IT proficiency with Patient Centre, Track it, and HISS are required.
