About the Service
Band 7 Leicestershire Genetics Centre, Leicester Royal Infirmary University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
The Leicestershire Genetics Laboratory provides a high quality, patient centred diagnostic service as part of the East Genomic Laboratory Hub. Our team delivers a comprehensive range of genomic and cytogenetic investigations, with a strong and expanding focus on cancer testing using next generation sequencing (NGS). We also maintain a full constitutional cytogenetics service, ensuring that patients benefit from a complete genomic diagnostic pathway.
Aboutthe Role
We are looking for a motivated and committed Clinical Scientist to join our friendly and supportive laboratory team. This Band 7 role provides an excellent opportunity for HCPC registered scientists who are ready to take on a varied and rewarding post.
You will work across all areas of the laboratory, contributing to:
- NGS analysis for haematological malignancies and solid tumours
- Microarray analysis
- Chromosome analysis
- FISH
- Interpretation of genomic results and preparation of clear, accurate diagnostic reports
You will be supported to develop your scientific, analytical and interpretive skills, and you will play an active role in ongoing service improvement. If required, we will provide full training in analytical techniques where experience is limited.

- Hold HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in Genetics/Genomics
- Are enthusiastic about working flexibly across a wide range of genomic and cytogenetic techniques.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a commitment to high quality patient care
- Are keen to develop professionally within a busy diagnostic service
