the Role

We are looking for a motivated and committed Clinical Scientist to join our friendly and supportive laboratory team. This Band 7 role provides an excellent opportunity for HCPC registered scientists who are ready to take on a varied and rewarding post.

You will work across all areas of the laboratory, contributing to:

  • Microarray analysis
  • Chromosome analysis
  • FISH
  • Interpretation of genomic results and preparation of clear, accurate diagnostic reports

You will be supported to develop your scientific, analytical and interpretive skills, and you will play an active role in ongoing service improvement. If required, we will provide full training in analytical techniques where experience is limited.

What We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who:

  • Hold HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in Genetics/Genomics
  • Are enthusiastic about working flexibly across a wide range of genomic and cytogenetic techniques.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a commitment to high quality patient care
  • Are keen to develop professionally within a busy diagnostic service

We particularly encourage applications from recently registered scientists who are ready to take the next step in their careers.

What We Offer

  • A structured programme of professional development and CPD
  • Opportunities to gain experience across the full diagnostic repertoire of a modern genetics laboratory
  • Close links with Clinical Genetics, Haematology, Oncology, and Cellular Pathology
  • The laboratory will be moving into brand new laboratory space in 2028
  • A positive and inclusive culture where compassionate team working and patient focused practice are valued
