Overview

Werequire a Domestic Assistant to join our professional team to provide ahigh-quality cleaning service based primarily on the Inpatient Wards at the hospice.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for cleaning different areas across the Hospice including clinical areas, patient areas, infected areas,non-clinical areas, corridors and staff areas to the highest of cleanliness standards.

Excellent communication skills are essential as is afriendly, polite and helpful manner as you will be interacting with patients, relatives,visitors and other members of staff across the Hospice. You must also be flexible in order to meet theneeds of the service. Ideally you willhave a good knowledge of manual handling techniques and COSHH. Experience of working in a healthcare setting is required, however training in all settings will be provided.

Job responsibilities
  • To provide a comprehensive cleaning service as detailed within the Cleaning Specifications for the buildings within the Hospice campus, to enhance the experience received by our patients, relatives,visitors and staff on site.
  • To clean all toilets, sinks, bathrooms and showers, including floors, surfaces and mirrors.
  • To replace toilet roll and disposable hand towels/soap dispensers, as necessary.
  • To damp dust all furniture in ward area, offices and other areas of the Hospice.
  • To mop all tiled and lino floors, buffing where necessary.
  • To vacuum all carpeted areas.
  • To empty all waste/dressing bins.
  • As a member of the ward team, to ensure that patient areas are maintained at a high standard of cleaniness
  • To clean beds as appropriate
  • Person Specification Knowledge
    • Knowledge of Manual Handling techniques
    • General cleaning standards
    • Trained in Manual Handling techniques
    • Safe handling and use of chemicals (COSHH)
    • Understanding of the various waste streams
    Qualifications
    • GSCE in maths and English grade A to C or 4 9 or equivalent
    Experience
    • Ability to accurately record checks and inspections, form filling and record information.
    • Ability to move and handle equipment and furniture throughout the day
    • Experience of working within a Hospice or hospital environment
    • Clinical areas cleaning experience
    Skills / Abilities
    • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
    • Ability to prioritise workload
