Position Overview
The post holder will provide high-quality psychiatric care within structured rehabilitation pathways for adults with complex mental health needs, with a particular focus on recovery-oriented practice.
This is a full-time post (10 Programmed Activities). The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred psychiatric care, supporting service users to progress towards greater independence and reduced levels of support.
The post holder will support the Responsible Clinician (RC) in delivering care in line with GMC standards, Mental Health legislation, and organisational policies and procedures, and will contribute to clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement activity.

Key Duties
(not an exhaustive list in relation to responsibilities)
Clinical Responsibilities
- Support the Responsible Clinician in the medical management of service users
- Undertake psychiatric assessments, including admissions and ongoing reviews
- Participate in ward rounds, CPA meetings, and MDT reviews
- Complete discharge summaries and clinical documentation to required standards
- Contribute to Mental Health Act processes, including reports and hearings, as required
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and legally compliant records
- Assess mental capacity and contribute to best-interest decision-making
- Participate in risk assessment, formulation, and care planning
- Chair MDT meetings in the absence of the RC
- Contribute to on-call arrangements as required

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration (essential)
- MRCPsych or equivalent (desirable)
- Section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act (desirable)
Experience
- At least one year's recent experience in adult psychiatry
- Experience in psychiatric rehabilitation (desirable)
- Experience in complex needs or forensic settings (desirable)
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience or training in relevant therapeutic approaches (desirable)
Competence
- Knowledge of Mental Health and Mental Capacity legislation
- Risk assessment and risk management capability
- Understanding of clinical governance principles
