Overview
Are you looking for a stable and rewarding role? Leicester Partnership Trust is recruiting an experienced Switchboard Operator to work in the Estates and Facilities Directorate, soft FM services, at the Bradgate Unit, Glenfield Hospital. The role is part-time (approx. 18 hours per week) with the following pattern:
Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 14:45–19:15;
Week 2 – Wednesday 14:45–19:15, Saturday and Sunday 12:00–19:15 (30-minute break).
The Switchboard Operator provides a comprehensive, high-quality switchboard service to patients, staff and the public, often being the first point of contact. The environment is busy, and lone working is common.

- Observe and respond to monitors/alarms within an agreed scope and follow stringent documented procedures in emergencies.
- Provide a polite and courteous telephone manner when receiving and re-directing calls.
- Process telephone calls efficiently via switchboard consoles and other extensions within the switchboard area.
- Offer a welcoming service for routine inquiries and provide assistance to staff and the public, ensuring appropriate support is given.
- Proficiently operate the computer-based switchboard.
- Make decisions and manage emergency calls calmly in high-pressure situations (e.g., cardiac arrest, trauma, fire, major incidents, bomb threats, gas alarms, lift entrapments).
- Be enthusiastic and adaptable within the Switchboard and its varied roles.
