Waking Night Support Worker

Leicester
Salary: £26,000 – £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Full-time, waking night shifts

We’re recruiting Waking Night Support Workers to join a dedicated residential service in Leicester, supporting children and young people with a range of mental health diagnoses. This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference providing consistent support, care, and safety during the night hours.

About the Role

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and emotional support of young people throughout the night. Working as part of an experienced team, you’ll help create a therapeutic, consistent environment where each young person feels secure and valued.

Key responsibilities include:

* Monitoring and supporting young people throughout the night to promote safety and well-being.

* Responding calmly and effectively to any incidents, following clear safeguarding guidance.

* Providing emotional reassurance and a consistent presence overnight.

* Completing nightly logs, records, and handovers accurately.

* Maintaining a safe, nurturing environment in line with care plans and individual needs.

* Working collaboratively with daytime staff and clinical teams to ensure continuity of care.

About You

* Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with mental health needs (desirable but not essential — full training provided).

* Empathetic, patient, and calm under pressure.

* Comfortable maintaining professional boundaries while offering consistent emotional support.

* Reliable, committed, and able to work regular waking night shifts.

* Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
