Non-Invasive & Training Lead Cardiac Physiologist
Lead a diverse team of Cardiac Physiologists to perform and report adult trans-thoracic echocardiograms in line with BSE minimum data set and local reporting guidelines.
Responsibilities- Perform adult transthoracic echocardiograms independently following BSE guidelines.
- Ensure quality assurance checks on equipment and act appropriately.
- Submit reports, archive study images, and maintain record compliance with contractual requirements and SOPs.
- Coordinate with hospital departments and GP practices for urgent clinical referrals.
- Obtain formal/informal consent and check for contraindications.
- Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment.
- Store diagnostic results in line with SOPs.
- Provide appropriate care to patients during encounters.
- Support operational staff to meet clinical capacity requirements.
- Explain test details and result timing to patients.
- Communicate with internal staff and external companies regarding equipment maintenance.
- Escalate abnormal findings and offer professional advice when needed.
- Manage time effectively in a high workload environment.
- Communicate complex medical information to patients clearly and empathetically.
- Handle interactions with challenging patients, including those with disabilities or mental health conditions.
- Mentor and train team members, supporting their development towards BSE standards.
- Ensure equal opportunities and professional development for all staff.
- Supervise workload and engage in recruitment selection processes.
- Engage with NHS commissioners and healthcare providers to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Lead BSE departmental accreditation and promote best practice.
- Conduct audits of clinical activity and support BSE accreditation efforts.
- Review clinical staff regularly to guide improvement.
- Investigate complaints, review incidents, and implement learning actions.
- Advisory on clinical matters to senior managers.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Oversee risk management protocols within the team.
- Participate in Clinical Advisory Board for Echo services.
- Review and triage patient referrals according to contract and best practice.
