Overview

Job title | Financial Controller

Reporting to | Chief Financial Officer

Location | Nylacast Group, Thurmaston Boulevard, Leicester, LE4 9LN

Hours | Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00, with a daily 60-minute lunch break contracted to 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility within hours of work is required as business needs dictate.

Overview of the role

Responsibility for the day to day running of the finance department ensuring that the financial information is accurate, timely and compliant, whilst also managing the systems, processes and teams that produce the information. This will be a hands-on role and experience of Manufacturing & Engineering is essential.

Experience & Requirements Experience
  • Professional Qualifications / Certificates in either:
  • Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA)
  • Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • Extensive experience: A proven track record in finance, accounting, or a related field is essential, often requiring progression through several roles.
  • Leadership experience:
    Previous management or leadership experience is highly sought after, as the role requires motivating and directing a team.
  • Hands-on experience:
    Experience with full-year accounts, financial audits, and specific areas like acquisitions and due diligence is valuable.
Key Skills
  • Financial acumen: A strong understanding of financial principles, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management is fundamental.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking:
    The ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and translate financial information into actionable strategies is crucial.
  • Leadership and communication:
    The role requires strong leadership skills to inspire confidence and the ability to communicate clearly with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Technical proficiency:
    Expertise in financial software like Excel, Power

    BI, and enterprise systems like SAP or Oracle is necessary.
  • Other skills:
    Attention to detail, integrity, time management, and strong organizational skills are also essential for success.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the reporting of the financial performance of the business; including review and understanding of the monthly results produced.
  • To lead the annual Budget and re-forecasting processes.
  • Ensure adherence to month-end timetables, and internal and external reporting deadlines.
  • Responsible for accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Supply of timely and accurate results to the Board.
  • Production of relevant forecasting data and cost-driver data to allow timely decision-making for course correction.
  • Ensuring legal and corporate governance compliance in the relevant areas of finance.
  • To support the pricing and costing strategy of the business.
  • Assist in the future and ongoing development of internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure a strong management risk framework.
KPIs
  • Taking ownership of the business's financial performance measured through a deep understanding of profit bridges as compared to Budget and prior year.
  • Timing delivery of the monthly reporting pack.
  • Work closely with the other departmental heads to ensure internal compliance on company controls and governance.
  • Develop the financial reporting to deliver budgets and forecasts for the business.
  • EBITDA forecasting.
  • Cap Ex management working.
  • Further annual objectives will be set with the CFO.
