Role OverviewThe Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures on site. This role supports the project team in identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring a safe working environment, and maintaining full compliance with local legislation and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and site rules.
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety legislation and company standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Support the project team in risk prevention planning and safe method development.
- Review and approve risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and permit-to-work systems.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and produce detailed reports with recommendations.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions as required.
- Maintain accurate H&S documentation and records.
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities where necessary.
- Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across the site.
Experience:
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, SAMTRAC, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, engineering, energy, or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of local H&S legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting site audits and risk assessments.
- Incident investigation experience preferred.
