Office-Based | Reporting to the Engineering Director
Do you enjoy seeing your designs come to life on the production floor?
Are you looking for real ownership, not layers of approval?
Would you thrive in a close-knit engineering team where your ideas genuinely shape the product?
If so, this Mechanical Design Engineer opportunity could be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
About the OpportunityOur client is a long-established British manufacturer known for designing and producing high-quality engineered products used across the built environment. With decades of technical expertise and a reputation for durability, performance and intelligent design, their products are trusted internationally.
Proudly independent and family-owned, our client operates with a small, agile team and an open, collaborative culture. Decisions are made quickly. Ideas are welcomed. Impact is visible.
If you enjoy working in an environment where common sense prevails and ownership is encouraged, you will feel right at home.
The RoleDue to continued growth and international expansion, our client is looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to support both ongoing production and new product development.
This is a genuinely varied position. You will divide your time between enhancing existing products and contributing to R&D initiatives, working across a diverse engineered product portfolio. No two weeks will look the same.
You will report directly to the Engineering Director within a flat organisational structure. Micromanagement is not the culture here — you will be trusted to manage your own workload, take initiative and drive projects forward.
Why This Role is GreatIn this role, you will:
- Take ownership of mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture
- Improve and refine live production products, solving real-world engineering challenges
- Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to bring ideas into reality
- Develop and maintain high-quality technical drawings and documentation
- Prototype, test and iterate designs using in-house equipment and systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across multiple product lines
- See the tangible impact of your decisions on finished products shipped globally
- Solid Works
- AutoCAD 3D
- In-house prototyping and testing equipment
- Established manufacturing processes within a live production environment
This role offers hands-on exposure to the full product lifecycle — ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering, not just screen-based design.
What’s in It for You?- Company pension
- Discretionary annual bonus
- Employee Health, Critical Illness and Death in Service cover
- Direct access to leadership and senior decision-makers
- The opportunity to play a meaningful role in an ambitious British manufacturer expanding internationally
