Work Pattern: 1 day WFH

We are seeking an experienced Associate Architect to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy in their Oxfordshire studio. This is a senior leadership role for a technically accomplished, delivery-focused architect who wants to shape projects, teams, and performance.

Working closely with the senior management team, you will lead by example — driving technical excellence, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest professional and commercial standards.

The Role

This is a pivotal Associate-level position with responsibility spanning design leadership, technical delivery, commercial oversight, and business development. You will be a Chartered Architect (ARB registered) with at least 15 years’ post-qualification experience, bringing credibility and gravitas to client and consultant teams.

You will specialise in the intelligent application of building science and technology, confidently steering architectural and multi-disciplinary projects from inception to post-completion. Delivery is key: you will champion BIM and Revit best practice, lead quality assurance processes, and maintain consistently high technical standards across all work streams.

Projects range from medium-scale schemes (£5m–£10m construction value) to complex programmes exceeding £30m, where you will lead multi-disciplinary teams and act as a senior technical authority.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Support and deputise for senior management as required
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Architects, Technologists, and senior team members
  • Drive a culture of technical rigour, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to recruitment, appraisal, and workforce planning
  • Participate in management forums and strategic planning
Project & Technical Delivery
  • Lead projects from briefing and feasibility through to handover and post-occupancy
  • Oversee statutory approvals, planning, H&S compliance, and contract administration
  • Administer traditional, partnering, and design & build contracts
  • Ensure compliance with design, regulatory, and professional standards
  • Personally deliver technical packages on projects up to £30m construction value
  • Promote excellence in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM (minimum BIM Level 2 experience)
  • Champion structured CPD and technical upskilling within the team
  • Engage with post-construction stages, including Soft Landings and building performance review
Commercial Oversight
  • Manage project budgets, fees, and resource allocation
  • Monitor programme performance and profitability against targets
  • Oversee change control processes and contractual compliance
  • Support revenue forecasting and pipeline reporting
  • Ensure timely invoicing and strong cashflow management
  • Maintain a clear understanding of RIBA stages and associated fee structures
Business Development
  • Contribute to — and where appropriate lead — EOIs, PQQs, ITTs, and fee bids
  • Support bid strategy, pricing, and gross margin planning
  • Develop client relationships to secure repeat and new business
  • Produce case studies and marketing material
  • Actively contribute to divisional growth
About You

You will bring:

  • RIBA Part I, II, and III (or equivalent)
  • ARB registration
  • Minimum 15 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Strong technical delivery background across multi-disciplinary projects
  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of project financials
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring emerging talent
Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to step into a visible leadership position within a respected consultancy, shaping both project outcomes and team culture. You will have influence across technical standards, commercial performance, and business growth — with the autonomy and support to make a meaningful impact.

If you are an experienced Associate Architect seeking a role with breadth, responsibility, and long-term progression, we would be keen to hear from you.
