About the Role

Leicestershire Music is looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Cello Teacher to join our team of dedicated instrumental tutors. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who believes in creating inspiring musical journeys for young people — from their very first note to confident ensemble performances.

We are seeking a cello teacher who will deliver high-quality cello tuition to children and young people across Leicester and Leicestershire, supporting learners to develop strong musical foundations, technical skills, confidence and a lifelong love of music. You will also contribute to the wider musical life of the service through ensemble involvement, events and performance opportunities.

What We Offer
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Opportunities to contribute to a thriving county music service and ensembles
  • The chance to make a genuine difference through accessible, inspiring music education.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post. For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see our policy statement.

About You
  • Qualification or experience demonstrating a high level of musical understanding, awareness and proficiency in your area of specialism (e.g. music technology, instrumental etc); experience of performing, creating or facilitating music at a high level
  • Inspiring and motivational, with the ability to build confidence and enthusiasm in learners
  • Passionate about ensemble music-making and developing young musicians in group settings
  • Forward-thinking and adaptable, committed to high-quality, inclusive music education
  • Experience of developing and adapting resources to respond to learners’ interest and needs and offers a level of challenge and independence appropriate to age, ability, capacity and context
  • Skilled in teaching beginners through to developing players, supporting clear progression; organised, reliable, and an excellent communicator with students, families and colleagues
  • The ability to work for 2 hours on Saturday mornings teaching pupils and supporting our ensembles and music-making programmes; the ability to teach beginner double bass, and the availability to teach Monday evenings would be advantageous.

In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents. You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of these commitments as part of the selection process.

Reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability. We are a Disability Confident Employer.
