About the role
Are you passionate about creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for students? As a Residential Adviser, you'll be the first friendly point of contact for students living in university accommodation, offering guidance, support, and a friendly face for routine enquiries. Working as part of the Accommodation & Residential Life team, you’ll help promote a vibrant sense of community, support events, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents.
This part‑time role (15 hours per week, fixed term from 31st August 2026 until 18th July 2027) provides excellent experience in customer service, teamwork, and event coordination. Most shifts are 5pm to 10pm with weekend shifts usually 10am to 3pm (likely to change for key University enrolment dates).
You’ll benefit from a comprehensive training and induction programme, flexible working arrangements to accommodate academic commitments, and the opportunity to contribute to key university activities.
Uniform is provided, and you’ll be supported by a dedicated team, with additional hours available during busy periods such as arrivals. Working at either Oadby Student Village or City Living, you’ll gain invaluable skills for future employment while making a positive impact on the student experience.
About youAre you enthusiastic about helping others? Do you have great energy to drive events programmes? Are you a current student who has help, guidance and useful tips that would benefit first year students?
We’re seeking an enthusiastic, supportive, and collaborative individual who thrives in a team environment and is keen to make a difference. You’ll be a registered and active student at the University of Leicester, with experience in customer service and ideally some involvement in halls of residence. You bring a proactive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in student life and community building.
Your positivity and willingness to help others will shine through as you assist with everyday enquiries, support events, and encourage inclusive and respectful behaviour. You value equality and diversity, respect confidentiality, and are keen to work flexibly across the university. If you’re eager to inspire others, embrace new ideas, and contribute to a welcoming community, we’d love to hear from you.
