About the Role
Long Term Futures is recruiting a Specialist Teaching Learning Assistant to join a small, specialist SEMH school in the LE8 area. The school supports pupils who have found mainstream education challenging, offering a highly structured and nurturing environment with very small class sizes and excellent staff-to-pupil ratios.
Pupils follow a blended curriculum that combines academic learning with outdoor activities and therapeutic or wellbeing-focused sessions. The school's approach is calm, consistent and relationship-led, with a strong emphasis on clear routines and personalised support.
What You'll Be Doing
Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Supporting emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies
Assisting learning across classroom-based, outdoor and practical activities
Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils
Following individual support plans and contributing to progress tracking
Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and engagement
What We're Looking For
Experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching or similar)
Confidence managing behaviour in a calm, supportive and consistent manner
A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
Applicants from sports coaching or mentoring backgrounds are strongly encouraged
Candidates must be fully compliant, including a DBS on the update system and two professional references
