Landscape Planning Opportunities (Senior Architect to Associate Director) | Expression of Interest
Stantec invites experienced Landscape Architects to join our growing Landscape Architecture team in roles ranging from Senior Architect/Planner to Associate Director. This opportunity focuses on landscape planning, assessments and sustainable master‑planning on prestigious projects across the UK.
Our work spans urban regeneration, new town settlements, tall buildings, residential and mixed‑use greenfield development, commercial, infrastructure and energy projects at various stages of the planning process. You will conduct landscape/townscape and visual impact assessments (LVIAs), provide strategic analysis and green infrastructure advice, and contribute to landscape‑led master‑planning. The core focus is landscape planning, but you will also continue to use your design skills.
You will collaborate with senior colleagues and specialists across our UK hubs – Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, London, Reading, Warrington and Edinburgh – in a friendly, inclusive, and growth‑oriented environment that values integrity, curiosity, creativity and shared success.
Responsibilities- Carry out preliminary landscape and visual appraisals to inform development processes
- Perform landscape and visual impact assessments (LVIAs)
- Create conceptual and strategic design sketches as appropriate
- Conduct townscape, visual impact and tall building assessments
- Strategise assessments of designations such as Green Belts and Strategic Gaps
- Produce Landscape Capacity and Sensitivity Studies and character assessments
- Contribute to Vision Documents, Design and Access Statements and Design Codes
You should have a track record of relevant work experience in landscape architecture or multi‑disciplinary consultancy, with experience completing LVIAs and other planning tasks. Good knowledge of current UK planning and environmental assessment legislation is required, as well as the ability to develop designs, write reports and use industry software confidently.
You may already hold the CMLI qualification or be progressing on the Landscape Institute Pathway to Chartership (P2C). Stantec provides support and mentoring for P2C development.
