Position: CONSTRUCTION TUTOR (Permanent)
Construction Multi-trades Tutor - Leicestershire
Term Time Only - working 41 weeks per annum - 11 weeks holiday – permanent.

£27,500 RAISING TO £30,000

If you have broad based construction skills, had you thought about using your knowledge to work with young people to provide them with practical multi-trades skills? Or maybe you are a capable DIY enthusiast with experience working with young people? You may even be currently working as a Tutor.

The Role:

* You'd be giving practical demonstrations on various aspects of basic construction skills - bricklaying, carpentry, painting and decorating.

* You would be working with a class room of no more than seven young people.

* You'd be providing young people with tasters of basic level construction skills that will help them secure construction apprenticeships or further training.

* This training in construction is seen as a gateway to a career in one of the construction trades.

* The training centres are in the East Midlands area within a well equipped, purpose built workshops.

* 90% of the training is practical as the company have found that this is the way most young people learn best.

* Working hours are 8.00 a.m.

- 4.00 p.m. but classes are 9.30 a.m.

- 3.00 p.m. Four days a week so plenty time for admin etc.

* The working day is 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Classes begin at 9.30 a.m. and finish at 3.00 p.m. so there is plenty time for writing up notes and any administration.

* Instead of working 52 weeks per year you'd be working 41 weeks per year (11 weeks holiday) so the salary of £27,500 rising to £30,000 on passing probation.

* The salary increases by 5% per annum.

The company

You'd be working with a training provider who have many years’ experience working with school children and giving them basic skills in construction which opens the door for apprenticeships and jobs in construction.

Following on from receiving this training, this training provider boasts an impressive track record in the young people who go down the construction apprenticeship route.

You'd be working for a small, dedicated training provider, who have been established for more than 10 years.

In return for your construction industry skills and knowledge you would be mentored and supported in your journey to becoming a fully fledged tutor, if you don't already possess formal teaching qualifications.

You will have the opportunity to study for training qualifications (if you don't already possess them) which will enhance your own personal development and career prospects.

Most of the company's staff have come from industry and they have an exceptional track record in training the next generation of tutors.

The candidate

Experience with in any construction trades – carpentry, joinery, bricklaying, plastering, painting, tiling, etc.

Previous experience of working with young people - maybe you have been responsible for looking after apprentices and demonstrating skills, or an activity leader, cub/beaver volunteer, sports coach, foster carer - any experience like that would be relevant.

Good, clear communication skills. You must be able to give clear instructions and have a good command of the English language both written and verbal.
