The job of ESL Aide Level 2 (Students) – Teaching Assistant – STUDENTS ESL (Level
2) is done for the purpose/s of, with limited on-site supervision of a certified teacher serving as ESL program coordinator, identifying and working with English Language Learners (ELL Students) to support English language acquisition on a scheduled basis; administering English language proficiency assessments to measure student progress; and using prescribed strategies and materials to prepare individualized lessons and activities for students.

Essential

Functions
  • Administers English proficiency assessments for the purpose of identifying and measuring student progress for the purpose of supporting classroom teachers.
  • Assists teachers for the purpose of maintaining student files and determining students  needs and conveying information to appropriate instructional personnel and parents for the purpose of ensuring learning goals are achieved.
  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Implements under the supervision of the certified teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans provided by and under the supervision of the teacher for the purpose of reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Supports new students and families for the purpose of establishing familiarity with the learning environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
