Senior Tax Accountant

Our innovative and growing company is searching for experienced candidates for the position of Senior Tax Accountant. • Assist with income tax functions including:
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provisions
  • Assist with corporate income tax calculations
  • Assist with quarterly income tax estimates
  • Keep current on tax laws and industry regulations for applicable taxing jurisdictions
  • Identify tax savings ideas and be able to work in a team environment to help implement solutions
  • Assist with a variety of special projects as needed
• Assist with sales tax functions including:
  • Review monthly sales tax returns prepared and filed by Sovos
  • Assist with state and local governmental sales/use tax audits, including the gathering of information requested by government tax auditors, and where appropriate assist in the defense of tax positions taken by the Company
  • Analyze and reconcile sales and use tax accounts monthly and prepare a monthly general ledger sales tax entry
  • Review & reconcile monthly billing and funding reports from Sovos for accuracy
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns regarding sales tax and exemption certificates
  • Be responsible for the initial review of all sales tax exemption certificates
  • Be the initial internal interface on day-to-day transaction tax issues

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required
• CPA certification is beneficial, but not required
• 1-3 years of tax accounting experience required, sales and use tax experience is a plus
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
• Strong understanding of financial accounting
• Oracle ERP software experience is a plus
• Basic familiarity with federal and state income and sales tax laws/regulations
• Understanding of appropriate application of tax laws, rules, and standards to ensure effective and efficient tax compliance
• Proficiency in using tax research tools, court decisions, and other relevant sources of information utilized in tax administration and compliance
• Basic understanding of tax, auditing, and accounting principles
• Experience in preparation of monthly sales and use tax returns is a plus
• Experience in handling sales and use tax audits is a plus
• Proficient knowledge of Sovos and Vertex tax software is a plus
