Not a certified lifeguard? Contact us to become a certified lifeguard for PRCS! We are seeking summer‑certified lifeguards across the county for our outdoor pools. As a certified lifeguard, you will use your skills to do important, meaningful work critical to the safety and wellness of our diverse communities. PRCS serves a diverse population, including, but not limited to, youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

A successful candidate will possess a positive attitude, good communication skills, and self‑motivation.

We are currently hiring for the following locations:

• Franklin Park Outdoor Pool, Purcellville, VA (Summer Only)
• Lovettsville Community Center Outdoor Pool, Lovettsville, VA (Summer Only)

As a certified lifeguard, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Monitors the use of aquatic facilities and equipment to ensure visitor and participant safety within the facility and compliance with applicable safety policies and practices.
• Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment.
• Contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required.
• Enforces pool rules.
• Provides courteous and timely customer service to County staff, facility visitors, and users.
• Refers customers to appropriate staff.
• It is possible that other essential duties related to the specific role and department may be performed.

Flexible work hours are available, including early mornings, daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays to work around your school, vacations, work, or family commitments.

This position is eligible for a $1,000.00 hiring bonus following the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Please note that this position is for summer lifeguards only. If you're interested in a year‑round lifeguard position, please apply for Job Number 25-01129.

• Lifeguard I (Grade 103):
  Must be at least 15 years of age and hold the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at the time of hire or obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Lifeguard II (Grade 104):
  Must have a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and hold the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at the time of hire or obtain it within 30 days of hire.

Must undergo a criminal background check. Obtain Lifeguard Certification;
First Aid Certification; and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
